CIES-funded study (2018 Annual Research Competition) with Fiorella Parra and Vania Martínez on how oil spills affect maternal and child health in indigenous communities of the Peruvian Amazon, including fieldwork in the Cuninico Native Community.
Study on how petroleum spills affect maternal and child health in Loreto, Peru, incorporating a gender perspective. Used an interdisciplinary methodology combining qualitative and quantitative methods, including fieldwork at the Cuninico Native Community. Identified direct health impacts and three indirect consequences: disruption of food security, emotional distress among women, and intensified gender-based labor division.
