FWO-funded PhD research (KU Leuven, 2021–2025) addressing the socioecological dynamics of illicit economies and opportunities for rural development in Protected Areas of the Peruvian Amazon.
Doctoral research project “Between Conservation and Extraction: Addressing socioecological dynamics of illicit economies and opportunities for rural development in Protected Areas of the Peruvian Amazon,” carried out as a full-time FWO PhD Researcher at KU Leuven (2021–2025). Combined GIS, statistics, and qualitative fieldwork to analyze land use change, deforestation, and illicit economies (coca cultivation and illegal mining) in and around Peru’s Amazonian protected areas.
