This XCEPT-funded project examines contested cross-border spaces where armed state and non-state actors cooperate and compete in governing territory. The project investigates how illicit flows of weapons, drugs, money, and trafficked persons intersect with regional instability across the Horn of Africa, the Middle East, the Andean Region, the Golden Triangle, South Asia, Ukraine, and Russia.
This project is led by Prof. Annette Idler at the University of Oxford’s Global Security Programme, with postdoctoral researchers Hernán Manrique and Dr. Lamis Saleh as members of the research team.
